Installing the Missing Fog Lamps:
Since this project has been a budget-driven build (can you relate?), we started with a base model Subaru Outback. A lot of the features included on the higher end models were missing. One of the features that Subaru deleted from our model were the fog lights. How sad does this first photo look?
The good news is that this was easy to correct, since Subaru was kind enough to already have pre-wired the vehicle for the fog lamp “option.”

Installing the fog lights was a great upgrade. You can obviously find them at a local Subaru dealer, but when I last checked, the MSRP was $499.99. We found our Subaru OEM Fog Lamp Kit (P/N H451SAL100) on eBay, sold by a Subaru dealer on the East Coast, for $199.99. Below is a copy of the installation instructions.
In summary, this was an easy upgrade to pull off. It really has been worth the money when we find ourselves driving on dark nights, especially when the weather is lousy.
Follow along to learn about the modifications we have made, and about ones that we hope to accomplish as budget allows.
